I have started a new blog that works better for me than this one. I have been having difficulty doing things I want on this one and am happy with my new one. Overview

My Review
Wow!!!! This book literally took me on the biggest emotional rollercoaster! This book is the definition of emotional thrill ride. I felt every emotion at some point in this story, many of them one after another on the same page. I am still trying to get myself together after reading it. As the overview tells you, Kaylee finds out her life-line is about to run out. She has less than a week before she will die, and being Kaylee she needs to save people. Her best friend Emma is at risk of being the next victim to her Incubus teacher and Kaylee wants to make sure that her, and any other potential victims are safe before she dies. Kaylee is already living on borrowed time and knows that this is it, there is no way around it. This is her last chance to protect the people she cares about. She wants to make her last days mean something. Sabine and Kaylee come to a sort of truce to try to work together and find a way to get rid of the Incubus, which is very entertaining. I love Sabine’s character, so more of her is always a good thing to me. She is so fierce, and brutally honest and the dialogue between her and Kaylee is always fun to read. As always, Tod is there to help Kaylee when she needs it, and Nash gets jealous about her spending time with him. Tod is the one best suited to help Kaylee with certain things since he has some pretty cool skills being a reaper and all, so we get more of him. (which in my opinion is always a good thing *sigh*) There are so many twists and turns in this book and it was so hard to put down. This book will make you laugh, cry, smile, and probably stay up all night reading until you finish. You need to read this. (and if you haven’t read the first four yet, what are you waiting for?) This is the best Soul Screamers book yet! This series gets so much better with each book, and I am dying to know what comes next in Before I Wake.
I am super excited today because of course new books were released. There are so many good books coming out this week, I wanted so many, but only pre-ordered 3 of them. The first I am going to read (and will probably finish super quick) is If I Die by Rachel Vincent. It seems like I have waited forever for this next installment of the Soul Screamers Series. I have read some of the advance reviews and am so, so excited for it. I also pre-ordered The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. It looks amazing and the advance reviews and book trailer convinced me I needed to get it. I really want to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor and The Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton also, but I can only read so many books, and on Thursday I will have The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson which I am really looking forward to. So with the 3 books I already have ordered for this week I am afraid that Daughter of Smoke and Bone and The Faerie Ring will have to wait until some other time. Other great sounding books coming out that I am interested in are Ashfall by Mike Mullin, A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davies, and Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. There are just too many to get to, and even more great ones coming out next week as well. I wish I could buy and read them all, but it’s just not possible. If only days were like 60 hours long…..
Overview

My Review
Where do I even start? Fantastic! Really. I am trying to figure out how to write this review without giving anything away, but still letting you know how awesome of a book it is. I was pulled in from the very beginning. The story just flowed so well and kept me intrigued the whole time. The character developement was wonderful. I enjoyed getting to know all of them. I love how Alex is so strong mentally and physically. She is one of those kick-ass female characters you absolutely love. She is sarcastic, and reckless at times. She is very strong-willed, and like a typical teenager makes mistakes and has trouble knowing when to keep her mouth shut, but is very smart and determined. There is no way she is going to let herself be thrown into a life of servitude. She knows that being a Sentinel is what she is meant to do. Alex struggles with training to get back into the covenant, the sadness of losing her mother, why the Apollyon (a half-blood that can control all the elements and is the ultimate daimon killer) is there instead of out fighting daimons, and the feelings she has about Aiden. She knows it’s wrong to even think about, but she can’t help it. The romance that developes between Alex and Aiden is very believable. It’s not one of those instantly in love things. I enjoyed the dialogue between them, the silly banter, and the nice sweet conversations. The Apollyon has been brought to the covenant because of something to do with Alex and when they find out why, they are even more confused at the reasons behind it. This book is packed with action, mythology (with a twist), some romance, a lot of sarcasm and humor, plot twists, and there’s some tear-jerkers for you too. I couldn’t helped but be completely into this book. There is never a dull moment. The next book in this series titled Pure comes out in the spring and I can’t wait to see where the story is going! Also there is a prequel titled Daimon that I highly recommend you read before jumping into this.
Last night was date night with my husband so we did dinner and a movie. I had wanted to see Abduction so despite the bad reviews we went to see it. Well now I understand why the movie got bad ratings. It’s a shame really because Lily Collins is a fantastic actress, but even she couldn’t help this movie. This could have potentially been a good movie. The idea was there, and they had some good actors for the film, but the screenplay seemed like it was written by a five-year old. The filming was a bit nauseating with how shaky, spinny, and blurry the camera was for most of the movie. The dialogue was so horrible most of the time is was actually funny. (and not in a good way) The few actual action sequences the movie had were decent, but not enough to warrant any praise. Taylor Lautner and Lily Collins did an ok job considering what they had to work with. I think if their was better dialogue and better filming the movie would have been alright. Unfortunately it was really awful and deserves the horrible ratings. That said I absolutely love Lily Collins and I can’t wait to see her as Clary in City of Bones when that is finally made. I think she’s going to do fabulous in The Mortal Instruments movies.
It is now officially my favorite season!! Along with my favorite season apparently are a whole bunch of books I really want to read. (which just makes this fall even better) In the next month there are so many books coming out that look amazing. So I am going to make a little list of upcoming book releases for next week that are on the top of my reading list.

Those are next weeks books that I really want, and as you see I already have pre-ordered two of them. I really want to read the other ones too so we will see. So many books I want to read, and not nearly enough time. As it is right now I am actually reading two books, and they are both really good. One of them is Enthralled, and since it’s an Anthology I can just read a few of the stories and then go back to the other book I am reading. The other book I am currently reading is Half Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Both are great so far. I wish I could read 3 or 4 books in one day because then I could almost get to all of the ones I want to read, of course I would probably go broke if I bought that many books so I guess it’s a good thing that I can’t. Ok that’s all I have for today. Happy Friday, and enjoy the first day of Fall. (and of course every other day too 😉 )
I wrote a post last week about what I went through for a dress, and now the rant continues. Last Wednesday when I received my order, which wasn’t in fact my order at all, but someone from all the way on the other side of the US, I called Forever 21 and was not pleased about how they were going about the situation. They told me that once they received the order that they sent me back in their warehouse they would refund my money. Ok anyone else think that I should have gotten my refund right away since it was their mistake. It’s not like I was just sending back something I didn’t like, then I could understand, but they sent me someone elses order. So he tells me that he will put it in so that when UPS scans the package they will put the refund through. UPS picked up the package the next day, and I figured I would give them until Friday to credit me. I had a wedding to so I didn’t bother with checking to see if it was there, but on Monday was pretty mad when it still wasn’t. On Tuesday I get an e-mail from UPS that the package was returned, still no money in my account so I e-mailed the supervisor I had spoken to and he tells me he put the refund through. Yesterday still no credit, now I am really pissed. I call the direct extension, nothing of course. So today I finally get through and talk to the manager and he tells me they put in the transfer yesterday, but it will take 5 days. Ok WTF!! They took my money out on the 10th when I placed the order. They were informed on the 14th that they sent me the wrong order, and UPS picked it up to send back on the 15th. They got the order back in their warehouse on the 20th, and I still have to wait until next week for my money back. It takes them minutes to get the money from my account, but all this time to put it back. That just seems very unacceptable to me being that it was their mistake. If the fault was on my part I would not be so upset about all of this. I understand their return policy, but this was not just me not wanting my product. It wasn’t even my order that I received. The invoice was a girl in Oregon. I really do like the clothes from Forever 21, but I will not buy anything from them again. If a business thinks it’s ok to run a business that way, I don’t want to support them at all. When I posted about what I went through to get my dress, I left out the company name to be respectful, but now I feel no need to respect the company at all and want others to know what they do. Well, I feel a little better now that I have gotten that out of my system. Now if only my money was back in my account I would feel a lot better. Sorry for the rant, but it was driving me crazy thinking about it. Now I am off to relax and read.

My Review
I wasn’t sure what to expect when starting this book. I haven’t been really into stories about vampires lately, but I am so glad I read this one. It’s not just your typical vampire story. I was pulled in right from the beginning of the book, and it progressed wonderfully right through to the cliffhanger ending. It was an adrenaline rush from the start. The story moves fast and brings you from one thing to the next. The characters developed nicely and you really get a feel for them. I liked seeing Brooke change and really learn to stand up for herself and her friends, instead of being the girl who won’t even defend herself against Jaren’s snotty ex-girlfriend. She comes to accept her vampire blood and learns to embrace it and use it, though it does take a while and some help from Mirko, a wise very old vampire Lijepa, and her BFF Kaitlyn. Mirko helps train Brook how to fight, and Lijepa helps her to learn to use her special skills. Kaitlyn is the awesome BFF who is understanding and non judgmental and I really like her personality. I hope we get to see more of her in the future books. She really helps Brooke to just be who she is meant to be, and not to be so afraid. Onto the whole love triangle thing. I love how now being an adult I look back and laugh because I remember the drama of being a teenage girl with a crush, and how one minute it’s heaven and the next you are an emotion wreck. The whole falling in love quick thing usually does bother me, but it doesn’t so much in this book because it’s a typical teenager thing. Brooke is so head over heals over Jaren, and has liked him forever so I can see how she’s “in love” with him. I kinda don’t really like Jaren much. I mean I feel a little bad for him because he’s had a rough upbringing with a dad who doesn’t care, but I don’t think he is deserving of Brooke at all. He thinks he can just want her, and then not want her, and then want her again, all while expecting her to just take him back. Mirko on the other hand has wanted her the whole time he has known her and never wavered in his decision at all. Yes he’s a little arrogant, but really he has every right to be so I am team Mirko all the way. I hope we get to know more about his deep dark past. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, and hope it continues on a fast paced thrill ride like this one.
I just finished reading Descended by Blood by Angeline Kace, and it was really good. I will write a review on it, but when I sat and tried to today I just stared at my computer screen for a really long time. Then I would think I knew how I wanted to put it into words and I would write a few sentences and then just stare again. So it’s not really working out for me today. I am feeling slightly under the weather with a bit of a sore throat and congestion so I am just run down and tired, and my daughter is trying to see how many of my buttons she can press today. They can’t make enough Aleve or Tylenol for this. That being said, I am probably not going to be able to get the review up today, but I will try to work on it while Makayla naps, if she naps. It all sounds really good in my head, but when I see it in front of me, it’s not how I want it. For now I am going to go make myself a hot cup of tea, and relax for a bit. Hopefully the review will come to me right if I just don’t think about it. Oh and one other thing, Demi Lovato’s new album Unbroken is great, so you should go buy it. Really… it’s super good! My Review
I had really been looking forward to this book for a long time. It sounded really good, and the cover is beautiful. Carrie Jones is also a fantastic writer. It’s a story about friendship, love, and sacrifice. About facing your fears, doing what is right, and learning to be true to yourself. Let me just say, this book was fantastic! I love the dual perspective this story is written in. It lets you get much more of the story and keeps you pulled in right from the beginning. It is beautifully done and flows flawlessly from Alan’s point of view to Aimee’s. The characters seem very realistic and it’s nice to be able to get inside both of their heads and really get a feel for them. It was interesting to read them falling for each other from their own perspectives. How they are so scared of the possession and evil in town, and they are putting protecting their family and friend’s before their feelings for each other. Or tying to anyways. They need each other to get rid of this evil spirit that has haunted the town for a very long time. They will need to use both Aimee’s healing power and Alan’s ability to get rid of the evil spirit with the help of his spirit guide. I could not put this book down. It was spooky, touching, and funny at times. A great read for teens and adults. Go out and get this book you won’t regret it.
